In a world filled with suffering, how can labyrinth facilitators create a container and hold space for people processing trauma? Join special guest Veriditas faculty member Betty Lopez Towey as she shares her experience facilitating group walks for frontline workers and first responders-- people whose work is showing up for others on their worst day. In collaboration with Front Line Foundations of North America and Silver Bay YMCA, Betty has offered the Labyrinth at an annual retreat in upstate New York for firefighters, police officers, military personnel, and paramedics, where their increasing openness to mystery was shared in ways that allowed for heartfelt sharing and deep healing. Betty will share the materials, resources, music, poetry, storytelling and the closing ritual she used to shape and offer the flow of their Labyrinth Journey.

Register to join her conversation with Lars Howlett live on Zoom, Monday, April 21st at 4pm Pacific or receive the link to the recording to watch at your own time and pace. VIA Members can enroll for free and will receive a meeting link to a special half hour Q&A with Betty and Lars following the webinar.

Betty Lopez Towey

It was at Silver Bay on Lake George that Betty was first introduced to the labyrinth, an ancient walking meditation tool found in cultures around the world. This profound experience led to a deepening interest which soon became a passion. She was trained as a labyrinth facilitator by Lauren Artress in 2001 and has helped to build the outdoor labyrinth at Silver Bay Conference Center on Lake George, has painted canvas labyrinths with various communities and has carried her own painted canvas labyrinth into New York City Schools, Colleges, Medical Schools, Churches and Synagogues.  She has continued her study of the labyrinth with Lauren Artress at Chartres Cathedral, the site of the original eleven circuit labyrinth and is now an Advanced Labyrinth Facilitator and member of the Veriditas Faculty.
