A Path to The Center: An IN PERSON Contemplative Labyrinth Workshop with Patricia Newton

  • 11 Oct 2025
  • 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM
  • Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 147 NW 19th Ave Portland, OR 97209

Please join us for a day of exploring our experience of the Center, both the center of the labyrinth and the center of ourselves. Being “centered” is a common aspiration suggesting a yearning for a state of awareness that can be meaningful and helpful to us. The Center is a universal symbol of a special place where we have access to nurturance and wisdom. A sacred place where heaven and earth can meet.

We will use the labyrinth as a metaphor for our journey to our own centers. The labyrinth is a single winding path into the center and back out again. By walking this ancient path, we can contemplate how we find our center, how we experience it, and how does a centered connection inform our lives.

To learn about labyrinths, we will walk the lovely inlaid wooden labyrinth at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, with time for meditation, journaling, images and personal sharing.

It is an excellent opportunity for us to learn about labyrinths and Veriditas as an international labyrinth organization. This workshop will qualify you to take the Veriditas Facilitator Training.

Patricia Newton has been on a journey with the labyrinth since 1988 when she first walked the labyrinth in the snow with Jean Houston. She has made multiple pilgrimages to the famous Chartres Cathedral medieval labyrinth in France and is currently the Chair of the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Labyrinth Guild in Portland, OR. The guild offers monthly in person and virtual walks and a Labyrinth Speakers Series. With Molly Osborne, she has co-led numerous labyrinth workshops on topics such as holding space, kindness, and the path of heart. They are both retired physicians.
